The Beauty of Editing

The real beauty of editing is when you can bring someone back for a special moment in time — a time that otherwise never could have happened. How I used old footage to bring back a former colleague for one last studio session.

This still was from the original video shot in September 2020. The mask path was feathered to blend it in with the subsequent shots taken in 2022.

I never had the chance to meet or work with him, but I gathered from colleagues was that he was a very driven and inspirational person. Before he passed he had been in the studio a lot, shooting commentaries, webinars, conferences, and important company messages. When it came time to produce an in-memoriam piece, I decided to utilize existing footage from 2020 and reshoot the studio director counting him in one last time.
