Calboy Music Video
Back in July of last year, I shot a music video collaboration between Vitenzi eyewear and hip hop artist Calboy. Vitenzi had made custom frames for Calboy promoting their new styling and lenses. We fleshed out a video that best showcased Vitenzi’s real world uses utilizing some custom built sets.
Since Vitenzi is an Italian-inspired brand, I thought it would be great to have Calboy riding a vintage Vespa scooter through various cities in Italy. We shot the talent on a green screen, breaking the fourth wall by showing the studio setting in the background. This approach allowed us to stay within budget while keeping things lighthearted. I didn’t want the audience to think we were trying to pass off the footage as authentically shot in Italy. Thanks to our amazing set designer, Kory, we secured a vintage Vespa at the last minute, fitting perfectly with our original storyboard.
Another part of the video was set on a private jet, but with our virtually non-existent budget, it was more practical to build an interior section rather than rent a jet for the day. I found authentic 737 windows on Etsy for $70 each and bought three, which allowed us to start laying out the fuselage framing.
